I chose to use the Yoga Flow Festival and design a responsive website for it, creating user engagement before, during and after the event. Using gamification methodologies throughout the responsive web design to get users to engage with content and promote the event. Consider the different devices being used at different times throughout the engagements and event.
The final deliverables of this project included the following:
• User Personas with game mechanics
• Wireframes
• Final responsive screen Designs
Before the event the user can collect stars by sharing content, pre booking workshops, and is then rewarded with free audio classes to get them excited about the festival workshops. A social media giveaway happens all throughout the festival. Users need to share a photo of the festival. After the festival a few winners are chosen and receives merchandise from the stalls and big yoga brands. By collecting more stars on the website the user can get extra entries in the competition draw.
A big part to the research for this project, was the gamification methodologies, and how to apply them. Researching different types of ‘gamers’ and understanding what motivates them. From there, I had to get an understanding of how to create an experience that will motivate this type of user, using key game mechanics such as Skill badges, Teams, Social Discovery to name a few.
